MY ACADEMY AWARD RED CARPET PICKS

My style icons and favourite actresses impressed me this evening watching the Oscars. I really wanted to see beautiful gowns, natural, glowing simplicity or elegant drama, which I really saw. Cate Blanchett wore Givenchy Couture, Michelle Williams in Chanel Haute Couture, Mila Kunis in Elie Saab Haute Couture, and Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbana.

And my girl, Florence Welsh a.k.a. Florence + The Machine at The Oscars. She's going to perform the song “If I Rise” from the film 127 Hours, which is nominated for Best Original Song.
Florence is wearing Valentino Couture :)

DREAMING OF SPRING

Found 3 amazing new pieces at H&M today. I found a camel utility jacket, white crochet cardigan, and an amazing pair of black & white patterned high-waisted pants :)

I paired my new pants with this cute tank top I bought in NYC this past summer, but I plan to pair them with a white tee and my Lanvin x H&M statement necklace :D

WHO'S THAT GIRL?

Speaking of Studio 54, yesterday on Twitter Tom and Lorenzo were quoting a very charming lady, Florence Welch. One quote they tweeted form her was "Anyone who wears Givenchy Couture is a goddess in my book." On Saturday I had finally (after a year!) bought my signature/favourite Givenchy HOT Couture fragrance! I like coincidences :) Then they tweeted from Florence Welch, "Love the "You've Got the Love" video. The makeup and sequined leotard is so Studio 54."
Immediately I Youtube "You Got the Love" by Florence + the Machine, who is Florence Welch! Maybe you all know this, but I did not. Now that I do, and LOVE that song as well as the live Dog Days Are Over I bought in iTunes and Kiss With A Fist. Besides Florence being completely talented I thought was a coincidence she's fair skin with red hair (real or not it looks gorg!), and tattoo on the inside of her left arm.. I must meet her.. LOL :)

DVF AND I CHANNEL STUDIO 54

Diane Von Furstenberg's Fall 2011 collection was labelled "American Legends." It was reported that Diane was inspired by pieces she use to wear to Studio 54 :) I was really impressed by the collection, it was heritage collection that demonstrates style and design is always modern. Besides enjoying the collection as a whole and DVF's aesthetic and theme, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE those jumpsuits/matching top and skirt/pant. Reminds me of my jumpsuit.. :D

SURPRISE SHOPPING SPREE

Yesterday my boyfriend and I stepped out to pick up a few things.. After buying the necessities; socks and bras LOL, I decided to use my Sephora (birthday) gift card towards my signature fragrance Givenchy's HOT Couture! Chapters/Indigo was close by and they actually had the book I have been looking high and low in stores since November, Blow by Blow the story about Isabella Blow. The book is written by her husband, and gets in to the story behind Alexander McQueen "be-friending" her.. I'm still trying to finish Front Row the story of Anna Wintour. I love the book, but I'm such a busy body I find it hard to find the time to sit back and read... Must owns for the fashionista either way :D

PIECES OF ME

Speaking of rock n' roll...

Murakami postcards framed we bought at the Brooklyn Museum once of the times we were in NYC. One of our walls with fun (mounted) band posters :) Hot Chip from the UK, Feist poster from Canada, nice picture of Crispy Duck restaurant in London, UK. Coordinates nicely with the cat dishes :)

3rd floor a small section we carved out for a craft/sewing area :)

Sewing, fashion, and art books of course.. I loved those 3 ads so much I put them up and haven't changed them yet.. Someday when the sun has completely bleached them LOL. MiuMiu ad, Prada and Vera Wang.

I love art toys :) Lomography fish-eye camera, stamp from an etsy seller, little girl and wild creature by my favourite designer of all; Pete Fowler. The framed prints below are actually The Dandy Warhols (cd art) vinyl.

DESIGNS FOR MY ROCK N' ROLL LIFESTYLE

Wednesday during New York Fashion Week I caught Anna Sui's Fall 2011. I have loved Anna Sui since I was a little girl, which you may have already gathered this from my blog. My interpretation of Anna's aesthetic is rock n' roll chic. A girl who lives for adventure, luxury, expresses herself through colour and patterns, and doesn't apologize for her love for sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. Here are the looks I would rock in a heart beat.

FASHION FRIDAY

After bearing the last few weeks of cold weather (fashionably I may add ;)), today it well above freezing the sun out in full force! I had a small shopping list and was so excited to shop along Queen street, enjoying the warmth and sun between trips :D

WHAT I'M WEARING:
Beige and white paisley t-shirt - H&M
Jeans - Levi's
New red tee with bow - Zara (also bought a new pair of black work pants)
New taupe platform shoes - Aldo
I didn't realize until I got home the shoes (almost) match my hand milled leather bag I bought from Aldo before Christmas. What a day and deal that was :)
